Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for a number of years. She was raised by her mother and her father, in USA. Her childhood was filled with racist taunts and felt unloved. In the 9th grade, she began to feel more secure after being acknowledged by her teachers as a success for her performance at school's audition. It not only increased her confidence, but also her goals transformed. At the age of 22, she graduated the Julliard School of New York. In 1993 she made her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. The greatest accomplishment of her career occurred with her portrayal of The Lady of The Lake as Spamalot's initial Broadway production. Not only did she receive the Tony Award, but her performance was also highly praised by the critics. Later in the same year she joined the ABC program Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. As a professional singer, she's also produced a single as well as an extensive work. In addition, she's an activist who works hard to protect LGBT rights.
